All original 1968 Fender Telecaster, rare maple cap, see thru blonde nitro finish, ash body. This guitar came to a music store through the son of it's original owner and then to us. It is in the kind of condition that makes guitar lovers get all teary eyed and wistful. Following is the rundown of the beautiful wear that makes this guitar a unique gem in the world of vintage guitars. This guitar basically had 1 owner.
Unlike a lot of vintage guitars we get, that maybe sat a case under a bed for 30 or 50 years and was never played much, this Telecaster was definitely played a lot. The body shows the subtle wear of years of use. The Blond finish remains intact and vibrant after 45 years but time has created a pattern of mottling that can't be reproduced in any other way. The wear on the Tele's sides are indicative of the kind of a great deal of use. Fender actually makes a line of reissues that attempt to reproduce this kind of wear. This is what they are emulating.
Pickup are original and dc resistance (checked at the output jack) is as follows: 6.1k at the bridge and 7.1 at the neck which is spot on. Great low action, fine sounding guitar, she has a great feeling maple cap neck w/a large logo & a single string tree.
You can tell this guitar was played a good deal in a seated position from the wear on the pan side curve.
The maple cap fretboard is my favorite part of this Tele. You can actually see the original owners play style. The guitar bears the evidence of the notes and chords this guy played. You can almost see the pentatonic patterns this guitar saw over the course of its life. Every bent note and vibrato is etched into the finish. This is what every guitarist hopes their instrument will eventually be... an embodiment of their style. There is no substitute for this kind of natural guitar awesomeness.
This guitar is still in fantastic working order. Not a thing is out of order. All the hardware is original, the finish is untouched and despite the procedural wear there is no damage to the structure of the instrument. That is rare indeed!
The guitar is dated Nov 1968, pots date to 1966, very clean white pick guard with one damaged screw hole, weighs in at 8.25 lbs so you know the tone is there; this is in great all original condition with normal scruffs and small marks but no dings, normal aging and some checking of the nitro. This is an un molested 68 Tele. Comes with its original black hard case. The feel and sound are incredible with the b profile neck.
